Ms. Mary Turner     

ED Mary TurnerMs. Turner currently serves as the executive director and department head of the Services and Support (N/1/4/6) department for the Navy Warfare Development Center (NWDC). She is the senior civilian leader and principal advisor to the director on matters related to civilian management, staffing, administration, security, logistics, facilities, contracts, and the information technology workforce. Ms. Turner has held the N1/4/6 role since 2019 and assumed the position of executive director in January 2024.
 
Ms. Turner began her civil service career in 2011 as an operations research analyst, focusing on data collection and analysis for war games, process optimization, and experimental studies. She later transitioned to the role of supervisory requirements coordinator (N4) and deputy department head for Services and Support (N1/4/6), where she oversaw contract management and logistics requirements, driving efficiency and ensuring operational readiness.
 
Prior to her civilian career, she served for six years as an active-duty Navy nuclear surface warfare officer.  Her assignments included USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), USS Laboon (DDG 58), USS Gonzalez (DDG 66), and USS Stout (DDG 55).
 
Ms. Turner holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program in 2003. She earned a Master of Science in Applied Physics from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2004 through the Navy’s Immediate Graduate Education Program.
 
She is the recipient of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, along with several personal and campaign awards from her active-duty service.
