Captain Samantha Dutily is a native of Waltham, MA, and a 1997 graduate of Regis College in Weston, MA where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. She received her commission through Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Pensacola, FL in January 2000. She earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University, FL in 2006.
Afloat, CAPT Dutily served as Gunnery and later as Strike Officer in USS JOHN YOUNG (DD 973); plank-owner and Training Officer in USS MUSTIN (DDG 89); Operations Officer in USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51) and USS SAN JACINTO (CG 56); Executive Officer and Commanding Officer in USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79); Commander, Naval Surface Squadron FIVE (CNSS-5) in Manama, Bahrain.
Ashore, CAPT Dutily served as N333 Current Surface Operations and later as administrative assistant to Deputy Chief of Staff N3/N5 at U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF); Operations Officer and later as Director of Training at Maritime Civil Affairs and Security Training (MCAST) Command; Tactical Action Officer (TAO) mentor/evaluator at Afloat Training Group (ATG) Norfolk; Deputy Executive Assistant (DEA) to the Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF); Joint Duty Tour as Senior Operations Officer for the National Intelligence Management Council in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Washington DC.
Currently, CAPT Dutily is serving as Chief of Staff/CO of Troops at Navy Warfare Development Center, Norfolk, VA.
CAPT Dutily is married to CWO4(ret) Tim Andros. Her personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Navy Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
