Royal Australian Navy Commodore David Frost, Naval Attaché to Washington, visited the Navy Warfare Development Center (NWDC) at Naval Station Norfolk on March 6, 2025, where he was welcomed by NWDC Director Mr. Michael Durkin.
During his visit, Commodore Frost emphasized the enduring strength of the partnership between the United States and Australia, particularly in naval cooperation. As both nations share a deep commitment to global security and stability, this collaboration has been critical in enhancing mutual defense capabilities, improving interoperability, and advancing shared strategic objectives.
The discussions at the NWDC focused on reinforcing joint efforts in naval warfare, technology integration, and readiness training, highlighting the importance of continued coordination between the U.S. Navy and the Royal Australian Navy. This partnership is pivotal in enhancing operational effectiveness and addressing emerging threats in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
As part of the visit, Commodore Frost also had the honor of presenting Cmdr. Simon Dent, an Australian Navy officer participating in the NWDC’s Personnel Exchange Program (PEP), with an award in recognition of his 20 years of exemplary service. This moment underscored the significance of personnel exchange programs in deepening the relationship between the two navies and reinforcing their shared commitment to regional and global security.
