Navy Warfare Development Center Awards Civilian of the Year for Exceptional Service and Leadership

Navy Warfare Development Center (NWDC) has named Ms. Susan Wallace its Civilian of the Year for Fiscal Year 2024 in recognition of her exemplary service and dedication as a Business Analyst. This prestigious award highlights Ms. Wallace's exceptional contributions to NWDC, demonstrating both her technical expertise and leadership in a variety of key initiatives.
In her role as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), Ms. Wallace played a critical role in securing several high-profile contracts essential to the Center’s mission. Her leadership was instrumental in the successful award of contracts for the Navy Lessons Learned program, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) maintenance, and cellular services—each of which supported key operational functions within NWDC.
Ms. Wallace’s ability to adapt to the evolving needs of the Center was particularly evident as she oversaw three major contracting re-competes. These re-competes were critical in maintaining continuity in key areas such as wargaming, experimentation, and information technology. Furthermore, Ms. Wallace’s efforts directly benefited the Maritime Operations Center Training and Exercise Team, ensuring their continued success in providing vital training exercises to enhance Navy operations.
In addition to her technical expertise, Ms. Wallace’s organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail have greatly contributed to operational efficiency at NWDC. She was responsible for managing accurate accounting records and ensuring the timely processing of vendor payments, which helped streamline administrative functions and enable the Center to meet its mission objectives without delay.
